Japanese Calligraphy Class: Master the Flowing Brush (Gyosho Style) The Art of the Brush: A Gyosho Journey Launching October 1st, 2026. Discover the meditative rhythm of the brush in this immersive Shodo workshop. This experience focuses on Gyosho, the elegant, semi-cursive style of Japanese calligraphy known for its fluid motion and artistic soul. Unlike the rigid blocks of standard script, Gyosho captures the energy (ki) of the moment, connecting strokes in a beautiful, dancing flow. In this focused 70–80 minute session, you will bring a single meaningful character to life. Whether you are a complete beginner or a creative soul, you will find a deep sense of "Zen" focus as you master the art of the flowing stroke. Customize Your Artwork You have the freedom to choose the character that speaks to you: Your Favorite Word:Bring a concept or value that inspires you. Our Selection: Choose from a curated list of meaningful Japanese Kanji. Your Name in Kanji: We will translate your name into a beautiful Japanese character for you to master. The Workshop Path Preparation: Begin by grinding your own ink (Sumi) on a traditional ink stone (Suzuri) to calm the mind. Practice: Hone your technique on Hanshi paper, learning the specific fluid movements of the Gyosho style. The Masterpiece: Once you’ve captured the flow, create your final artwork on professional Shikishi (art board) or Hanshi paper to take home. Class DetailsAll-Inclusive: We provide all premium materials (Sumi, Suzuri, Hanshi, and Shikishi). Skill Level: All levels are welcome! A sense of rhythm and a steady hand are encouraged. Cancellation Policy We want you to book with confidence. Cancel up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time for a full refund. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the tour are non-refundable. No-shows will be charged the full tour price. Changes to your booking (date or time) are subject to availability and must be requested at least 24 hours in advance. Refunds are processed within 5–7 business days to the original payment method. Exception: Tours canceled due to severe weather, safety concerns, or operator decisions will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule at no extra cost.
